Also, the fact that the Matt-gets-insanely-drunk post-debate episode has never been released is a travesty against everything that is good in the world.
Ok, story time. My kids have gone to the same pre-school/aftercare facility continuously now for the last 4 years, so I've gotten to know the staff there quite well. I judged pretty quickly that the headmaster of the preschool, while probably shading left of me on most things, was a reasonable person, and also quite funny.
I guess my reputation at this place was one of being funny, but also stern when appropriate with my children. One morning, I'm bringing my youngest in for preschool, and the identical triplets that went there at the time are running around the hallways of the place, just screaming and crying their heads off, all three of them trying to get away from the teachers and avoid... who knows what. The headmaster turns to me, as she's mid-chase of one of the rascals, and says, "Gentle parenting DOESN'T WORK, DOES IT, JAKE?!" I almost fell in love with her at that moment...
Oh no, Matt…there isn’t a Qatari air base in Idaho. They’re getting use of a USAF building in Idaho to cross train pilots. But the way the media wrote their headlines, of course it sounds like the Qatari military is moving into the US :(
Yeah, this was a minor point in the episode (to the point I'm at in listening, anyway), but it's really annoying. There's a really good article on Substack somewhere explaining the situation, but I visited one of the major training squadrons in the US for training foreign air forces on a type pretty regularly for work some time ago. It's completely normal, and has been happening forever (and specifically at Mountain Home, ID, for something like 30 years with Singapore).
MKH is my favorite. Also, MM, never underestimate a scrappy Appalachian kid who survived a chaotic home life while managing to stay off meth & heroin. JD reminds me of Bill Clinton: They are both highly intelligent and had turbulent childhoods that made them very adaptable.
He can be annoying, but he is clever. I wish he weren’t because I don’t agree with most of his policies, so I don’t want him to be the Republican’s presidential candidate! It would be nice if we had one party that was for a smaller and less paternalistic government.
Moynihan’s Israeli accent is actually one of the better fake Israeli accents I’ve heard from a non-Jew. His impression sounded like half of the teachers I had growing up.
Vance worries me. During the first Trump administration I remember people (maybe even the guys) warning about the person who comes after Trump -- the one that's sophisticated and polished enough to have wide appeal and that can assemble a more competent team, but who will pursue all the same bad (or worse) policies. Vance strikes me as that guy. He's an illiberal nationalist and whether he truly believes it or not is beside the point if that's the ideology that he tries to used to gain more power.
Well said! It's predictably disappointing to see the tack that the sycophants like Vance are adopting. I don't think there's anyone with Trump's entertainment appeal so perhaps that will keep a "super Trump" ascending but the consolidation of power in the Executive Branch is the underlying issue that mostly concerns me.

There’s no way that your username is not referencing Fawlty Towers is there? I love it.
It absolutely is a "Fawlty Towers" reference.
I love faulty towers and missed the reference. It made me go and watch the clip multiple times. It really made me laugh. Thanks

Nice. LOL.
They should put it up behind a NFC paywall.
MKH should be a regular on the pod.
If you find Kid Rock even moderately attractive, I would recommend penicillin and lots of it.
So they start up a video podcast, and their first two guests are attractive females... at least you guys know your audience...
The boys are on a roll, bring back Kat Rosenfield next
You know they're going to bring Eli Lake on next just to be punk rock and break the streak.
JK, Eli, love ya buddy!
yesssss
Best episode title ever. Also love MKH all the way back to Ladybrains.
I voted for President Camacho
Talk about emotional whiplash.
MKH on the Fifth? Great way to start the day…
Only 1 hour 15 minutes long? You goddamn monsters…
"You can't gentle-parent the Middle East."

Honestly surprised I got the state right.
Also, this happens with many countries that we sell military aircraft to.

JD Vance is not slick, he’s greasy. Comes across as inauthentic mad ideologically bankrupt.
Talk about audience capture. Dude has changed his name like four times.
He’s neither slick nor greasy. He’s authentic

I’m surprised people are still underestimating this guy.

Yeah highly intelligent people routinely interrupt foreign leaders from a position of political convenience (vice president).
I mean he’s smart enough to but he shows his hand and can be prone to bouts of infantilism.
Moynihan’s Israeli accent is actually one of the better fake Israeli accents I’ve heard from a non-Jew. His impression sounded like half of the teachers I had growing up.
MKH always a good guest, but loving Kid Rock is unforgivable.
Moynihan's impression of Keir Starmer is fantastic, if you've never heard him speak.
Yay! I love MKH so this should be a good one.

Funny as hell, as usual. May I ask what strain Kmele smokes?
TFC is the best ever.
