Actual quote from Andy Serkis on his adaptation of Animal Farm: “First and foremost, we are not making a film about Communism and Stalinism because if Orwell was writing the story today, he would be talking about other relevant topics like globalization and corporate greed.”

Apparently Orwell’s ghost must’ve told him that the real issues with Animal Farm were that it was too harsh on commies and there weren’t enough fart jokes or Cybertrucks.

In 2030, probably: "Look, if Stephen Spielberg were making Schindler's List today, ..."

I felt a level of disconcertment watching that trailer—which was amplified after reading this confirmation of the producer’s intentions—that felt new and deeper than other discomforts I’ve felt in the “post-truth” era.

It feels to me to be one thing to misrepresent historical facts to an adult audience for a political agenda (e.g. The 1619 Project), but something else more sinister to intentionally mischaracterize and rewrite the artistic or intellectual works of an individual, specifically in a cutesy production aimed at the young minds of the next generation.

Am I naïvely overreacting, or is this something new we should be thinking about?

Also the reporters would not know the story and so couldn’t challenge him on that point.

Is Kmele in heat? I felt like he needed some water splashed on him this whole episode 😂

Mark Wills's avatar

He is always on heat

I’d say one artist I cannot separate from the art is Seth Rogen. What an insufferable dick.

His vibe reminds me of how Rob Reiner shared his political views. Insufferable is apt, but at the same time, who takes their political view points from a millionaire actor anyways?

My response to their opinions, “Good for you.”

Could not agree more

Can we take a moment and appreciate Jason’s contributions to the podcast? I love the boys being able to call up clips. Thank you for being great at your job and enhancing the experience.

Brilliant episode! Hilarious moment at 35:44 as Matt responds to Kmele, but then the priceless reaction to Melania and THEN Animal Farm. Absolutely hilarious. Thanks for making us laugh at something this week!

Matt Welch making a Lord of the Rings reference about Melania? I love it

Adam's avatar

Thank Peter for his ability to make this reference. 😂

Matt Welch's avatar

Peter Welch for siring me? Fair enough, though it was Mom who got me into LOTR.

Adam's avatar

I am glad Suderman doesn’t get credit!

I don’t understand why the guys think Melania is especially “hot.” Maybe it’s just me, but she gives me the drag queen vibes (of course, nothing wrong with drag queens if that’s your thing).

Couldn't agree more, she does nothing for me. I've just never been into that eastern European look, always looking like they are pissed off at the world, even when they're not. And now with the plastic surgery/botox, she looks even worse.

Mark Wills's avatar

Oh I find her glorious. But that’s what makes a market.

"Animal Farm" looks to be the most tone-deaf piece of shit to come down the pike in quite some time.

Understatement of the year.

Fifth guys, can you please do an emergency episode on Ben Shapiros TPUsa speech? It is one of the best speeches I’ve heard in a long time. Solely because it is a guy getting up in front of the biggest organization of their own side, and dedicating their speech to housekeeping of their own side. Shapiro directly takes head on Tucker, and Candace and Fuentes. For that alone I feel like it needs to be spread. Think on both sides we need people to be able to critique their own side more.

And Kmele just commented on how the right is failing to critique their own side. I’ve never seen a better demonstration in my 32 years.

I reread 1984 recently, and my major takeaway was that there’s almost no one I’d be willing to stick my face in a cage of rats for. My kids for sure, maaaaybe my husband, but only because I love him a lot.

Tina is like the Fifdom’s cowbell: NEEDS MORE TINA!

Whenever one of the lads (ahem, Kmele) is absent, Tina should be the pod’s default guest host. Not even kidding.

Michael you can’t say you have Kim K story for after the episode with 10 seconds left in the episode.

We’re paying for all these dinners where you hear these juicy rumors MFer! (Tbc, that MFer was said with love)

Don’t want to talk about Candace? I get it, it’s because Megyn is now involved. She’s a friend, I can understand that I guess.

I’m not her friend, so I’ll call it like I see it. She’s afraid of offending/losing any crossover audience. It’s cowardly. Pathetic. Candace is a nutbag. She knows it. Too afraid to say it. Instead, tells her audience to fuck off.

I’m fucking off. She turned me on to you guys. For that I’m grateful. Still, I’m done with her. Don’t think I’m alone.

Merry Xmas. I enjoy your show. I don’t always agree with you, but you seem to always focus on truth. I appreciate that.
