Create separate Merch entity owned by the kids. Max out their 401ks and company match. Pay for their collaboration needs(phones, workshops, skill development and computers) then and only then to the parents get a nickle for their addictions and distractions.

I feel like Coco has some real life observations behind that idea.

Loving the merch storyboard! 😝

And that Kristofferson song? So evocative… takes me back to an entirely different time, when even in the big cities, Sundays really were just such a dramatically different day from the rest of the week. He had a way with words. Great pick, Matt.

I 100% support the idea of handing out Moyn body pillows to the homeless.

I really like Glenn but I couldn't believe it when he was like "oh, people are saying he doesn't have enough knowledge to talk about how Israel's creation was a mistake but he doesn't pretend to have that knowledge "

Or something to that extent. But Coates DOES act like he has that knowledge, and more importantly, people treat him like he does. He is basically a male Hannah Nicole Jones - very engaging writing who thinks they know a lot more than they do.

Regardless. Apparently Coates really is remaking himself into Cornell West.

As for Free Palestine, that is one of the best slogans since Black Lives Matter. Because people can say it to mean Palestine should be freed from the occupation since 1967. Or Palestine should be free from Israel's existence.

And as for Noah. Damn .

Watching Glenn with that reaction was one of his weakest arguments I have ever seen. I get that it's a personal experience thing but he made like zero arguments besides "he's a nice writer." I haven't read the book, probably won't since reading books outside of work is tough, but I lost some respect for him there.

Maybe Coates doesn't even think knowledge is necessary. Wouldn't surprise me. Knowledge could be another white supremacy tool to keep the oppressed down. Maybe it's all about vibez.

Love Firehose. Unrelated to 114, but just wanted to say the Matt curated "Basement Waves" spotify playlist is the gift that keeps on giving. Here I am, 46 y/o dude searching the web for Linda Ronstadt videos now. :-) I've only made it half way through...because I am savoring this thing so much. Thanks for that.

That reflector episode was pretty fucked. What do you with psychos who made their mind up that they know everything and are morally superior by default when they were 11 years old and remained unmoved by higher education?

When you go to a therapist for depression you learn about emotional reasoning- having bad thoughts about yourself is painful, and the pain is taken as evidence that those thoughts are true. What we have here is a movement of young people who apply this same unhinged emotional reasoning to other people.

I also wish it would have come out after the election because it made me pretty committed to vote for Trump.

Andy’s interview with Eman was great. I am solidly *not* in her camp and thought he asked some great questions and got her to open up. All hail the First Amendment 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 but also, no way in hell am I listening to Glenn pontificate about TNC 🙅🏻

I can't think of anything else I care less about than T. Coates' viewpoint of Israel/Palestine. You click on one video on youtube and suddenly it's all I see now.

Trevor Noah is a grade A moron. I am loathe to use such words on social media, but here I will post it.

1) it's never too hot in the bay area for working.

2) I'd be so good for merch.

3) have you ever seen the 1996 feature film Eddie starring Whoopie Goldberg?
