My feelings, too, about both this World Series and about the imminent presidential election. I nonetheless will tune in to watch the former, even though the entertainment value won't be the same without Billy Martin and Tommy Lasorda in the dugouts, and Keith Jackson and Howard Cosell in the press box.
It was a funny surprise to me that there was a link between the fifth column and desert oracle! I started listening to both independently. I moved from LA to NYC this past weekend and have been reading the Desert Oracle collections to help assuage my homesickness for the desert…
Oh man, the Dworman interview. True masterclass in good faith. Noam and I were in communication about it leading up to it and after it, and that man has the patience of a monk. He helped provide direction for my own follow-up piece on the interview, which I had a lot of fun writing. In short, both he and I agree that being friends (or even friendly) with Cooper can be exhausting.
>Where I likely part company with many of Darryl’s critics is that I do not believe this is indicative of a deep-seated antisemitism per se, but a deep-seated disdain for a perceived elitist establishment, dismissive of alternative explanations.
Basically sums up my perspective as well but I’m definitely keeping an eye on Darryl to see if he starts going too far down the rabbit hole.
Noam’s episode with DC was disappointing for me, not on account of Noam but rather because Darryl didn’t really say much. He was too mealy mouthed when Noam pressed him on his X shitposting and also why he didn’t distance himself more from potentially racist/antisemite fans.
Still, it’s cool Noam and Darryl are on friendly terms and I’m always intrigued how seemingly different worlds connect.
Gotta love that comment of the week… sums up the state of the 5th column. Yes, what is totally sad about the current state of US politics is that there are partisans on each side (to unknown degrees as there is no proper poll on this; which is great because we can just declare “same-same” because of “vibes”)…
Yes that is the sad thing… not that one presidential candidate is calling for fcc broadcast license revocation for interview edits he disliked (how about those Tucker Jan 6 edits though? Oh nothing to say there?) while the other candidate is going on opposition shows/networks for interviews despite them knowingly engaging in spreading election fraud disinformation to back Trump’s wild claims so as not to lose him and their Trump captured audience sect to competitors.
You know what’s a fucking calamity? A Dodgers/Yankees World Series.
It's a shame they can't both lose
I'm team meteor hitting the stadium.

As a Cubs fan, I get the smallest amount of solace seeing Rizzo playing in the series. He's still just a happy kid playing a game.
At least there are fun individual players to watch, even if the franchises are intolerable!
I won’t be happy unless they drill Soto in the ribs every time he comes to the plate. I’m a bad human being, I know.

If you haven't listened, this talks more about said link:

It is possible, somehow, for *everyone* to lose in the coming election? I think I would like that.
You're in luck! The American people will most certainly lose.
Wait, is that not what you meant?
*dies inside*

This is great, thanks!
