I always looked forward to Moynihan hosting Honestly, which leant it a serious air. Nobody else could have got as much out of the interview he did with Haviv Rettig Gur, which is so good, I clipped a 22-minute portion of it which I have referenced several times.
MM is a really good interviewer. You get so used to him bantering with the Boys on the 5th that you forget he can also play the role as a professional interviewer.
Ladies and gentlemen--WTF is going on over at the Fifth Column?! Did I just read my name beneath Matt Taibbi's? Did Matt Welch just mention my stupid Bob Dylan essay? Is the AI that writes Firehose hallucinating, or am I ?!
Eternally grateful, I'm floored.
Enjoy Tulsa! I know you'll hit the Dylan and Guthrie Centers--but don't miss Church Studio. Tell Teresa Knox the Third Ear says hello.
And grab a ribeye at Hemingway's.
I was in town a couple years ago with a buncha "Aspergian superfans" (Greil Marcus, Art Spiegelman, Stan Lee's biographer, a Daily Show writer, et al). (Missed Nancy Rommelmann by one week.) Wrote about Tulsa--Dylan and Church Studio and American Humor--here: (https://treystockard.substack.com/p/american-humor). It's long, but it's Freewheelin' and funny (no thanks to me).
Love you guys, I quote your musical commentary all the time--and that includes Kmele's.
Scott Horton ( the bearded lunatic) is unfucking bearable. How a self-described libertarian can write off a nation/people's desire to be free from a neighbor who has a history of imperialism is beyond me.
Even then those types are playing with half a deck.
Hilarious that underneath every YouTube video with Scott Horton's name on it, the comments are flooded with broken English replies a la, "you are so right comrade Horton, crush the American imperialists!"
Increasingly disappointed by how pro-Chaya Leah this podcast has become
You gotta Shabbat more! It's a competition!
What’s with “previously” at the Free Press @Moynihan? Did you sexually harass Suzy Weiss?
Honestly kinda bummed about this. His segments were the best ones
Agree.
I think he could either remain on friendly terms with Batya or listen to her pontificate on policy for an hour every week, but not both.
TFP's loss.
He's no Robby Soave
Lol nailed it.

This also raised an eyebrow for me. If true, one less reason to check their stuff out.
And it appears he was replaced by Brianna Wu! What a joke.
And with that confirmation, I've cancelled the FP subscription.
We all love Chaya Leah 😁🧡
Awwwwww
Matt! I’m a Tulsa local, if you need some suggestions (or want someone to buy drinks for you) hit me up!
That's what I'm talkin' bout!
Yet again regretting I wasn’t subscribing to Reason magazine 10 years ago … also, everyone of these fire hoses should include a baby pic 💜
Keep making babies and posting pics! Preferably with sneks!

You made my year.
I will always stay for the Husker Du. Back when Minneapolis was more fun and less scary.
Let's bring back the gloom follow up with Turn On The News.
Keep the snek baby hat requests coming!
Scott Horton is such a hack
Is that a man bun on top of Matt W?
Samurai ponytail, care of (pictured) daughters.
Sure sign of a Girl Dad

I miss W
My only regret was voting for him twice
When did MM leave The Free Press?
Legit shocked Chaya has her hand on someone’s shoulder. Muksa!
Did you hear her and Yael had on Richard Hanananania ?
Baruch SHOOK my hand! He was a true gentleman with all the gentiles present. It was 100% worth the four hour drive.
I’m a special kind of goy. I get a pass. 😁
I know I'm in the minority in the "not the biggest Eli Lake fan" club, but Scott Horton makes the guy a wisened comfort listen on par with 'ol Welch.

His “anti-war” takes are a one-way street.
Some people who claim to be anti-war only care about wars the US starts.
Even then those types are playing with half a deck.

Scott Horton was "reasonable" in the Eli Lake debate compared to his performance with Niall Ferguson on Zero Hedge. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t-Bgkc5nt2k
Horton on Comedy Cellar w/ Noam was hysterical and nigh-unwatchable as well.
WTF is wrong with Reason dot com commenters? Left that place years ago and it's only gotten worse.
I've been listening to "To Overthrow the World." It's very depressing.
