On a serious note, Assata was Tupac's godmother, not his actual mother.

I came here to say Tupac’s mother was named Afeni Shakur and she died in 2016.

MATT!!! Thank you so much for sharing this!! I wanted to have something fun for everyone to end the week with. We have an awesome group of weirdos in the chat, and anytime music comes up, great discussions and conversation ensue. I knew we would have some very cool music to share and it's already an awesome thread! It's been a lot of doom and gloom lately. Now we all have something positive to read, talk about and enjoy and explore music we may never have known about. Thank you for taking the time to contribute! I am honored to be the DeeJay of KTFC!!! (And nice graphic on the top 😜)

Matt - I had forgotten that playlist. That's on for this weekend. Just pure treacle-y fire!

Great rundown of that boring written and video crap as well. Ethan's article was excellent.

My hopeful highlight for the weekend is attempting to see the US Constitution in its full, all-page glory on Sunday. Seems like a good time for a review.

Question for Kmele in re: tail end of the CNN montage. What if the uncontacted tribes dont want us there? Eg, you mentioned north Sentinel island, but hasnt that tribe killed everyone that landed on their shores? I want to say Ive also heard (from Paul Rosolie?) that the uncontacted tribes in the Amazon often attack/kill outsiders as well.

I just took a break from listening to Bryan Burrough's Public Enemies to read f'hose #163 and find his essential & oft-recommended Days of Rage taking center stage as anti-heroine Joanne Chesimard (aka Assata S.) departs for destinations unknown. It (Public Enemies) is good but not quite as über-relevant as DoR which I may now have to pick up read again for a third time

P.S. the Smoke 'Em with Bryan B. and his wonderful southern twang (of which I was previously unaware) is great and what lead me to his gangsters v. FBI book

Hope your pivot to video doesn’t mean you will ever stop prioritizing podcasts. I don’t give even 5/8th of one half of one fcuk about having TFC (or any podcast) on YouTube. Why are y’all even doing this? Just marketing?

The audio podcast remains our core business. Video enhances the experience for those who value that, while also very belatedly placing our content on one of the world's most important podcast distributors (YouTube). This in turn creates new revenue streams, which we will then use to produce more content (audio, audio-visual, and textual) than we did before, thereby enhancing the value of everyone's subscriptions.
