Dad just dropped off a whole truck bed full of firewood. 4kwh of battery backup. Wood fired pizza oven. Coal fired smoker. I'm as ready as I'll ever be in North Carolina.
After a lifetime of being a Canadian Justin's intimate knowledge of his nation's #1 pastime (aka dealing with snow) is finally paying off, helping give him the recognition he so richly deserves ❄️
Never said disagreeing or having an argument is *antithetical* to the shows ethos, but I guess when your words are twisted, that’s what gets headline. Just saying people are being complete fucking assholes, not that controversial 😂
I am still having trouble understanding these #Resistance protestors and their tendency to instigate federal cops, and/or aggressively resist arrest, then act surprised when things continue to escalate.
Saw the video of the guy that just got, um, iced, and he was struggling on the sidewalk with multiple agents. I’m trying to imagine what would happen if any of us got into a physical altercation with the law. It’s pretty fucking dumb to do anything other than comply once you find yourself on the ground wrestling with cops.
Sorry but not immediately fish-planting when a cop, who has just shoved a woman into the ground and has pepper sprayed you in the face doesn’t give them the justification to execute you. I’ve watched the few angles online and there’s nothing about that situation that required a gun to appear.
I only saw one angle so could be missing something but it looked like the dude was not complying at all once they were wrestling on the sidewalks And at the end he somehow got free enough to where it looked like he was going for a gun, if he indeed had one. Either way, these Minneapolis protestors keep stirring up the hornets nest then act surprised when things escalate.
But every day hundreds of professional law enforcement officers all over the country manage to cuff and stuff people without executing them. Operative descriptor being “professional”.
There are plenty of videos of people reaching for guns, etc that have been shot by cops. Let’s not act like there’s some epidemic of civilians unjustly getting gunned down by law enforcement. We already went through this madness in 2020. And one of the only places of rational thinking was the Fifth Column.
Catching up with news and noticed this comment on Lukianoff’s Free Press piece. It captures what I’ve been too tired (lazy) to type out:
‘So, for the laws/enforcement we don't like, are we ALL allowed to keep tabs on law enforcement officers, track them, follow them around, do our best to interfere with their operations, and ignore their orders, or is that only permissible for this one group of entitled narcissists?
If I don't think drugs should be illegal am I allowed to follow a SWAT team to a meth lab bust and blow whistles and yell to let the people in the lab know they're coming? Can I try to get in their way so that they can't execute the bust? Then if they try to arrest me can I say "no thanks, I'll just be on my way instead?" Is that protected free speech for all of us?
I get that they think their case is special because their opinions about the laws/enforcement they don't like happen to be correct, but everybody thinks their own opinions are correct.’
On the weather, the Pats-Broncos game tomorrow should be interesting.
(And, yes, 10000 Maniacs is now eating its way through my scarred former DJ brain….)
The ICE news is disturbing, but I know OrangeManBad would never take the justified approach and shut off pretty much all of the Federal services until MN helps. Oh, sorry, we can’t protect TSA personnel at MSP, so flights in and out are cancelled. Yeah, Senator Osoff, we understand your problems this is causing for Delta, but we can’t be sure Bob isn’t gonna be shot coming to work. (After he’s not been able to sleep because of the horns and whistles outside his house in Edina….)
Despite all that, my attention is still on Iran. Did the woman lighting a smoke off the burning Ayatollah inspire that unsettling dream where I’d decided to start smoking again? Perhaps.
Justin, Matt has effectively taken your alibi away for this and all future snow storms… time to figure out a new way to eliminate your enemies. #KillingThemWithKindness
Glad to see Justin F. get some recognition. He's a good guy, even though...

Where are you? I just got to my parents in Cary from our forest neighborhood just south of Raleigh. The sleet started at 4.
T_rad is a local.
Hopefully it remains sleety

Still want to know if Moynihan was indulging in a conversation-stimulating glass of chocolate milk.

Requesting Sam Altman as guest on the Moynihan Report.
I _wish_ ice storms were that unfamiliar, here.

I need Justin to elaborate on, "it’ll be substantially easier to kill your enemies and make it look like an accident." Ya know, for the curious.
