God Damn! Is there another journalist/podcaster that takes the time to read and then thoughtfully and humorously respond to the fandom letters?? I have to say the high quality of the audience is making your job easier Matt, but truly the time and care you take to respond for the engagement of all of us paying subscribers is unmatched. This is why I will continue to pay $$ to support the amazing independent and hardworking voices out there! and Go Dacia!!

I joined sometime after COVID in 2020, and I remember them doing a live show and releasing the recording. I almost skipped it because, in my experience, live podcast shows are usually awful. But the Fifdom was so damn funny and thoughtful, it made the whole thing memorable—and I fell in love with the community. There’s something special here. Thanks to everyone who makes it so.

Congratulations, Dacia! California misses you, but the Rocky Mountain West is a great place to end up. I have no practical professional advice to offer on the new career, but I will second Matt's suggestion to lean into local/regional history. I am more familiar with neighboring Montana, where I spent my boyhood years, and the Montana Historical Society has a fantastic quarterly magazine that covers stories throughout the American West. Wyoming is home to the well-regarded Buffalo Bill Center of the West in Cody. David Samuels and Walter Kirn's County Highway is a great bimonthly read, with a strong rural-western focus. Leaning much more to the left, the High Country News is a long-standing regional stalwart. In short, there is no shortage of great writing and story-telling to inspire, and I know your own reporting will be a very welcome addition.

Loved reading Dacia’s small town newspaper adventures! Still a few years out, but I am also mulling retiring to a small town in the West someday- although probably more Idaho/WA than Wyoming to be closer to the fam. I can’t imagine just sitting on the porch doing nothing, so it’s nice to see other options.

Dacia, post some articles once in a while, I’m sure you will find all sorts of interesting things to write about!

Matt all your tips for the TFC chat's beloved and newly minted Lois Lane, Thermopolis (name!) Edition were wonderful. I'm sure Dacia will appreciate and take them all to heart, and as a fellow attendee/Malort survivor of TFC-Chicago almost one year ago I know she's made of the hearty stuff that will help her persevere through her first upcoming Wyoming winter in a few months. Cheers, Dacia, good on ya!
