Quick note on Amazon Hub Delivery (program where independent contractors can build their own delivery company) - my hubby runs his own (non-delivery) business out of the house but economic conditions have made it so the business is earning maybe half of what it normally would. He looked into the Amazon Hub delivery and let me tell you, it's been a lifeline. At the start up he decided what days he wanted to deliver, how much and Amazon set him up with all the technology so that its super efficient. He's getting fresh air, exercise and additional coin, and I get to keep my paid Fifth subscription - Thank you Jeff Bezos.

Yeah I had a friend who got laid off and being able to become a delivery driver with your own car through Amazon was a lifeline for her.

My goddamn house was targeted and vandalized with racial slurs by antifa because I dared to stand on the sidewalk, not opposing them, but videotaping their destruction of my city. Fuck anyone who laughs about woke one.

AOC was chuckling over it like someone looking back at their awkward middle school photos. It was bizarre.

Adam ✋'s avatar

I’m sorry that happened to your home. I hope it didn’t cause any significant damage.

T_rad's avatar

It did not. The fact that someone disagreed with me so vociferously that they looked me up on property tax records to come to my home and vandalize it just confirmed that I was right to attempt to show people who they are. Doesn't mean it got me or us anywhere, but whatever. Thank you.

I appreciate your spirit. Fk ‘em.

Feel free to read about it on my substack lol. I haven't written anything since 2021. I kinda thought I'd try my hand at indie journalism bc the local media wasn't reporting protests accurately, but I decided to go back into pharmaceutical manufacturing. I loved being out there on the ground, but I like getting paid more.

Came here to say the same!

Shane Gillis’s super power is that he never let the SNL firing define him. He just put his head down and got back to working on his standup. In fact he hated talking about the firing in podcasts for years after.

Underrated approach, taken by many of the most successful post-cancellees.

Good news. Hong lost the primary last night.

She was to proximal to whytness by anti colonial post Western neo gender cis hetero binary praxis. Oh yeah her son is also a half whyte mulato race traitor (her words).

get Tyler Austin Harper on the show!!! he'd be a great great guest.

very very interesting cat. Rural mixed race guy, is culturally rural. Also he admits to his Marxism while always exhibiting deep skepticism about race essentialism and broader "wokeness". I am sure after that article he's in a lot of demand but tempt him with some whiskey or something.. or just how cool the audience is :)

Craig Mahoney's avatar

He is really, really good on that stuff and other sociological issues, and completely, embarrasingly, batshit stupid retarded when it comes to politics. It is both fascinating and maddening to witness.

BB's avatar

have never listened to him expound on the political and how deals with the cognitive contradiction of his fellow Marxists go full in on cultural Marxism. Just know he mentioned he has Marxist political/economic beliefs.

Craig Mahoney's avatar

Yeah. I don't think he writes about it much. You'd need to follow him on twitter for that, I think. I've had to mute him a few times for my own sanity. Lol

The fake boy band from Heathers called Big Fun should not be confused with the real boy band from the UK called Big Fun who had a hit with a cover of Blame It On The Boogie in 1988, and one of whom later received a conviction for possession with intent to supply chemsex drugs.

Weird that Moynihan mentioned Ward Churchill and it turns out he died yesterday.

Brian Sack's avatar

I’m the nerd who shouted “Heathers!” as soon as I heard him say Big Fun.

If you grew up in my generation and didn't watch that film with a slack jaw at the hotness of Slater or Ryder, you are a failure.

The internet was probably a mistake but it's a miracle I found people who know Ben Sasse was on Econtalks this week and chat about it while drinking. These are my people. My real life should be way more like this.

Megan McArdle brought up Heathers on her podcast this week too, that's how perfectly curated my feed is.

Newish subscriber here, loving it, thanks guys.

The biggest problem with the let ‘em in and watch ‘em fail concept is that their failures at best will be extremely difficult to unwind and will be a dripping, lingering sore. Also the next group in after a failure usually just wants to do the same thing but “smart” this time. Like what we’re going to get with tariffs.

Gmarb's avatar

Indeed! I'd add that they will also find a way to deflect any blame for the failure on the same "demons" that they claim caused the problems to begin with as well. Then their supporters just parrot those talking points. Just look at how the Trump talking heads continue to claim that anything economically negative is still on Biden, for example.

Sean's avatar

Clearly any failure is caused by wreckers and saboteurs! Marxism can’t fail, it can only be failed.

Cities like Seattle, Portland, SF, LA, etc. have not learned yet, anyway.

Mark Halperin just ranked Josh Shapiro first on list of 2028 candidates. That assumes the democratic party still cares about actual qualifications. But we all know why neither he nor Ossoff will get very far. I appreciate Mark’s cute idealism, though.

He’s leading in the Governor polling here in PA by a pretty big margin. It’ll be interesting to compare his vote total this year to 2022.

Trump Jeopardy should be a recurring segment: Play a clip from an interview and try to guess what question he was trying to answer. Actually that'd be fun with the DSA candidates dodging straight answers too.

"They're Billy Binion shorts, aren't they? What? It's a category!"

"I come from a dirtbag culture; if I can pronounce words, you can pronounce words."

And my personal favorite: "I found drugs in my pocket and I ate them immediately...which definitely doesn't mean I have a problem."

This is what I come here for.

A great episode. Hate to say it, but I love it when it's you three together. Guests are cool, but this is the core of what makes TFC great.

"What Is To Be Done" is not Lenin's book, it was Nikolai Chernyshevsky. A Utopian rat-bag who influenced Lenin to be sure, but a whole different fuckhead.

Norm Benson's avatar

Guest ought to be the freebie and the boys ought to be paywalled. Just sayin.

When I heard "Woke I" I immediately assumed she had a "Woke II" in mind and its a frightful thought. I mean, if the Europeans had started talking about how"World War I" was pretty crazy before the Great War had even concluded, wouldn't you be concerned that they were already planning a much worse encore?

Chris L's avatar

Woke II so far is just rebranding good ole fashioned antisemitism, so maybe "Woke" does follow the World War scripts.

29:55 BTW, AOC is an initialism, but not an acronym. Acronyms are initialisms pronounced as words.
