I’m gonna have to miss second Sunday cuz of Jew stuff, and you say you’re not even planning to release it? Antisemitic much? More like the Fifth Reich!
There should be a new Pulitzer Prize category created for weekly podcast summary/mix-bag recommendations writings of the words and such, or whatever it is this weekly dispatch is. It is one of the highlights of my week, even if I have already listened to most of the things that are recommended in it.
First, I've seen Top Gun maybe 50 times and am desperate to host a screening where everyone sits in silence and listens to me give a 30 minute TedTalk about the film. Second, Rand Paul is the hottest Senator. I will not be taking questions at this time. Third, listening to Matt's Beach Boys episodes on Political Beats led me to be obsessed with Surf's Up because a) I was listening to the series on 6am plane rides to the midwest so it's basically a fever dream and b) the cover art makes me feel feelings in a pretty serious way and then the title is Surf's Up. Too fucking good. Rest in Power, Val, Happy Anniversary and Long Live Fifdom.
Thanks as always for the firehose and including one of my favs Nick Gillespie. Tell me this though: does Nick ever wear anything other than black t-shirts, black leather jacket?
I know I'm commenting 7 weeks late, but I wanted to give you props for your conversation with Razib Khan about Eastern Europe. First, amazing job holding your own. His podcast is kind of hit or miss for me, because far too often he talks over his guests, so it was a pleasant surprise that he didn't do that with you. But I really wanted to commend you on your response to his question about Russians claiming that they were "disrespected" by the West despite their honest to good sincere attempts (haha) to integrate into Western institutions and be good neighbors to their former satellites. I could feel my face flushing with ire as I sensed where he was going with that question, because based on past comments I've seen from him, I think it's one that he's sympathetic to. But you calmly and comprehensively called out the bs undergirding that perspective. In any case, I have no idea if you check the comments on these old posts, but great job!
Could you guys get Oren Cass on the pod? I think he's wrong about everything, but he sanewashes a lot of this policy and at least admits there are costs to populist policy proposals. Batya would be the more entertaining choice, but I just can't handle too much Batya before wanting to drive my car into a ditch off the I-75.

You think someone’s an ally …
lol, Fifth Reich?!? Run Cohen Run!!!
Trump keeps deporting people for antisemitism. You know what to do.
I’m on the phone to ICE as we speak. Matt should be snug and secure in a Czech prison by this time tomorrow.
Probably gonna talk about the holocaust a bunch too
Every time you refer to Andrew Sullivan as a tide pool enthusiast, I giggle out loud. It never gets old.
I knew a Lacy Rash in college. Gallantry prevents me from saying whether she began on the trunk.
That animation, though! Omfg. Can’t stop laughing. We need way, way more of that hilarity.
Def one of your better firehoses, Matt. So many great video asides. I’ll be entertained and, dare I say, enlightened all day today.
Thanks for all you do.

Dude I am here for bitchy Val Kilmer commentary tracks.
Been wondering where Moynihan's new show was so was good to see it posted here. That's my next cooking session listening sorted
"The Gay Way"
thanks for that beautiful Beach Boys song.
Both of the Moynihan Report eps were great. I agreed with Andrew on a lot.
I think Olivia forgot to take off the 3D glasses provided by movie theaters prior to a 3D screening.

Bullet points for the Ted Talk?
Top Gun made me gay because it is very gay.
A personal tale about how I did not watch the sex scene until I was 16 years old.
And how all 80s movies were a reflection of contemporary politics, including Present movies like Top Gun and Future movies like Demolition Man, etc.
With a Tony Scott Memorial Service for the grand finale

Please ask MM to change the god-awful drum beating on his new show🙉🙉
