Apparently Richard E. Grant and Sandra Bernhard are friends to this day after bonding over the fact that they knew Hudson Hawk was awful but were stuck shooting it.

Hudson Hawk is GREAT! It has a 23% Tomatometer though.

Fun-fact: Tommy five-tone originally died in the car at the end, but the testing showed that people hated that so they reshot it to the theatrical release where he just movie-magicked back to life.

Went to my friend’s house in Staten Island. Enjoyed his hospitality, a chance to reconnect with old friends and then witness my friend and others light 4000 dollars worth of fireworks as the founders intended.

Honest answer. Took a Benadryl, went to bed at 8:30, and snuggled my dog while she shivered from the noise.

That’s ok too. Pup needed you. Happy 250

I wrote way too many words about Hudson Hawk one time: https://www.alternateending.com/blog/raspberry-picking-hudson-hawk-1991

And I spent the 250th watching the neighborhood kids play with fire and yelling repeatedly to my child that he only got to do this because it was America’s birthday.

Amazing! Will check it out! Have you seen this book that just came out? It could use a proofread, but plenty of fun stuff contained within, including the truly terrible original treatment: https://plumeriapics.co.uk/shop/ols/products/xn--the-unmaking-of-hudson-hawk-by-david-hughes-paperback-pre-order--out-april-1-ml53c

Can't attach anything in the comments so I'll do it here. I did epic fireworks photography.

Grilled burgers and watched fireworks with friends in my Birmingham, Alabama hometown, now about to embark on a semi-semiquincentennial themed vacation to Philly, NYC and Boston. Any recommendations for Team USA watch parties in Philly tomorrow night?

Re Philly: Apparently the fanfest in Lemon Hill is a lot of fun, although it's been very crowded. Wissahickon brewery in East Falls always has games on and has a big projector TV. That's fairly close if you can't get into the fanfest. Feel free to DM with what area you're staying in and I can probably give a better rec.

Second Sunday time tomorrow isn't yet determined, right?

Michelle Goldberg’s apology about stumping for Platner is pretty damn hilarious.

Thanks for posting the Kmele highlights from that show, I understand the money grab appearing on that show (as I doubt the people watching it agree with him) as I find the 2 "A"s" (Abbey and Anna) in the word of my late Mother "The Twits" are unbearable, I know you 3 have a love for this blank slate called Abby and that bluster bomb of a fool Anna but I cannot swim in that river waiting for Kmele statements. Funny thing is they get even bigger dolts than those 2 that I refuse to learn anything about.
