Chris Christie has replaced Kmele. The former gov joins us for stories about Trump, the Kushners, RFK Jr., Bill Clinton, Bruce Springsteen, and the Bushes.
I take anyone’s word with a grain of salt in this public arena. These kind of interviews always make me like the person no matter my prior views of the person.
Fully agreed! I have to take him as pure entertainment to keep my blood from boiling at the fact that's he's not only part of the sick system but entirely complicit in the continued existence of the cult of Trump despite whatever he claims to the contrary.
Moynihan trying to soft pedal Nuzzi’s crumb cake antics and Christie cutting him off to declare, “No, that’s a freak.” Was pretty damn great.
Christie is a world class blowhard in the most entertaining way. Great episode. People from the Romney campaign have told the story on podcasts about his ego when he was giving the RNC keynote and how he wouldn’t share his speech ahead of time because he thought it should’ve been him accepting the nomination.
I loved his part about Bill Clinton. I met Clinton twice during his presidency, once at a private event, and with me was a dear friend who was a former Republican elected official from my state. He hated Clinton. I was blown away by Clinton's manner talking to me, but my friend was gobsmacked when during their own conversations, Clinton pulled out some nugget from a past event with a mutual colleague from years ago. My friend said on the drive home he'd never seen such a natural talker and talent as he did at our event.
Exact same experience for me at a wedding (of no one famous) at which he was present. Blown away by his attention to everyone, down to the biggest nobody there (in this case me).
And, same as Christie described: HRC had a receiving line and WJC was walking around the room, hamming it up with everyone.
Missed Kmele, but Christie is a *great* fit and yes, should become a regular! A consummate pol and good raconteur. His Bill Clinton bedroom voice was priceless.
Yes! I've also really liked these other ones in the past year: Lloyd Blankfein, Kevin O'Leary, Karen Bass, Abby Phillip, Rand Paul...but you might be right on the top 3.
This was fascinating. Gotta say, though, being a Springsteen fan is way worse than hugging Obama. (I do like that he and Springsteen are kinda friends now.)
Christie is always an entertaining interview, though I take every single word he says with a grain of salt.

That’s sounds fair. Christie takes all of his food with multiple grains of salt🧂

this was like the greatest gossiping session i've ever listened in on. highly entertaining.
I… really like this guy??
Christie as a semi-regular guest is actually a great idea, one that I had long before Moynihan joked (?) about it at the end. Great episode.
Am I the only one who would watch a 10 part docu-series about the ups and downs of Christie and Springsteen's relationship?
It would be a hell of a lot more interesting than the mutual wank fest Springsteen did with Obama.

Pitched a perfect game here, gents. Instantly unforgettable.
Petition for a line of Fifth Column valentines featuring Moynihan’s best seductive faces and “I’ll Deny Any War Crime For You.”
Love this!! Thank you guys. Needed some lightheartedness today❤️🌺

Good episode. Super entertaining. Christie is a great storyteller even though all his stories feel like they are 10-30% bullshit.
Top 3 all time! Please please please make him a regular. That was fun.
I think I agree...but three sounds specific. Who are your other two?
Ben Dreyfuss and Lara Bazelon! But it’s a high bar, I like all of the guests they’ve had really. Even Batya! (Reset to zero, Matt, sorry)

Supremely entertaining, fellas. Thanks.
Great show! Make him a regular crossover now that you've lost Megyn's favor. Or vice versa.
Are they not going on her show anymore? I was thinking it seems like well over a month since I’ve seen a fire hose with link of them on.
